Jon Carroll lines up to see the Impressionists

The de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park has a number of problems in terms of visitor comfort. I have promised myself that I will analyze it in some detail in the near future. But in the meantime, Jon Carroll, San Francisco Chronicle columnist extraordinaire, has an excellent piece on the discomforts and indignities (as well as pleasures) of lining up to see the de Young’s Birth of Impressionism show.
